Threaded Fasteners Nuts and Bolts of the Game: Saints to face emerging star

Threaded Fasteners Nuts and Bolts of the Game

Tyrod Taylor has now officially lost his starting quarterback position of the Los Angeles Chargers to rookie Justin Herbert.

Herbert, who was in Mobile competing in the Reese’s Senior Bowl just eight months ago, earned the spot with his stellar play. He looks every bit like a future NFL star.

But Taylor wouldn’t have yielded the position so quickly if not for a freak injury. Taylor had a lung punctured just before kickoff against the Chiefs as the team doctor was trying to administer a shot to help with pain around his injured ribs.

You may remember that Taylor lost the Browns’ starting quarterback job after suffering a concussion. Baker Mayfield took over and hasn’t looked back.

At least Taylor knew there was a chance he might get injured in a game and lose his position in Cleveland.

But losing your starting job – probably permanently – because of an error by the team doctor is harder to take.

If Herbert goes on to be an NFL superstar, the story of how he got the job is going to be one of the great trivia questions of all-time.

For Threaded Fasteners I’m Randy Kennedy with Nuts and Bolts of the Game.
