Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: The shoe fits Florida

Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up

It took only one year for Elijah Moore to be replaced at the top of the list for the most boneheaded and selfish penalty in SEC football history.

When Moore was penalized for imitating a dog at a fire hydrant after a touchdown, the infraction led to a missed extra point and subsequent loss in the Egg Bowl for Ole Miss.

But there were no national championship implications in that game.

When Florida’s Marco Wilson finished a tackle with the shoe of LSU tight end Kole Taylor in his hand Saturday night, it led to this unique call by the referee.

“After the play. Unsportsmanlike conduct. No. 11 of the defense throwing the LSU player’s shoe 20 yards down the field.”

The penalty led to the game-winning field goal by LSU that all but eliminated the Gators from national championship consideration.

The shocking play took the spotlight off Dan Mullen’s arrogant decision to rest his best player, Kyle Pitts, so he would be fresh for the SEC Championship Game.

The Gators will still have a chance to play Alabama in Atlanta this week. But the stakes won’t be as high for the Gators, who didn’t Tighten Up when they needed to most.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
