Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: Florida needs to show up

The Florida Gators were two wins away from reaching the College Football Playoffs for the first time.

All they had to do was beat a bad LSU team then upset Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

Of course, they didn’t win either of those games. Then they put a cap on the season by embarrassing the entire SEC in a no-show performance in the Cotton Bowl.

After giving up a half a hundred for a second straight game, Florida coach Dan Mullen said, “the 2020 Gators played their last game 11 days ago.”

That’s a cute way of trying to explain away an effort that should make every Gator sick. And the whole 11 days ago thing doesn’t explain the shocking upset at home to LSU.

Florida treated the Cotton Bowl like a program that’s accustomed to being in the playoff every year so there was no motivation to play well in Dallas.

The Gators need to Tighten Up and realize that before they can be an elite program, they need to come to play every week.
