Threaded Fasteners Tighten Up: Olympic Committee makes drastic changes

The 2024 summer Olympics in Paris will not include the sports of softball and baseball. Why? The argument has been that sports that have always and will always be dominated by the US aren’t compelling. But that argument doesn’t apply here.

In Tokyo, Japan beat the US for the gold in both sports. Canada finished third in softball, while the Dominican Republic won bronze in baseball.

And it’s not like there are just too many sports to accommodate. Otherwise, the International Olympic Committee wouldn’t be adding break dancing to the Paris games.

That sounds like a joke, but it’s not. Break dancing is now an Olympic sport on the same level with swimming and track and field.

Look, break dancing takes great skill. But, so does cooking a souffle or filling out a tax return. That doesn’t mean any of those things should be Olympic sports.

IOC members have stood the sports world on its head. They need to Tighten Up.

For Threaded Fasteners, I’m Randy Kennedy with Tighten Up.
